Introduction to the Ducal Palace: Palazzo Ducale of Modena was built in the 17th century. It was the palace where members of the old rulers, the Este family, lived for 2 centuries. The building is in the grand Baroque style, and its concave and convex facades and interrupted friezes on the windows are the best expression of this style. Today, it is the headquarters of the Italian Army Officers School. (Tickets cost €7 for adults, €5 for ages 6-12)
