Introduction to the Museum Palace: The Museum Palace (Palazzo dei Musei) is a building complex that brings together various museums and art galleries in Modena. It was built in the 18th century. The Estens Library (Biblioteca Estense) in the palace collects books, letters and manuscripts, the most precious of which is the Estens Bible (Bibbia di Borso d`Este), a classic of the medieval Ferrara School of Illustrations; Galleria Estense collects northern Italian oil paintings and sculptures from the 14th to 18th centuries of the Este family. The classics are Bernini's bust of Francesco I d'Este and Velázquez's sculpture of the same name. In addition, the Modena Archaeological Museum (Museo Archeologico Etnologico) and the Public Art Museum (Museo Civico d`Arte) are also here, which are the best choices to understand the history of Modena and appreciate the exquisite artworks left by the Este Dynasty.
