Introduction to Canada Square: Canada Square is adjacent to Durchester Square and is located in the center of downtown Montreal. In the square stands the statue of Canada's first Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald. The square is surrounded by famous buildings, tall and majestic. The square has an elegant environment, with green trees, flowers, and many exquisite sculptures scattered around. Every summer, it is the gathering place for many festivals and is also the end point of the National Day parade. This place was the site of the Montreal Catholic Cemetery from 1799 to 1854.
