Introduction to Hesheng Township: Hesheng Ancient Village is located in the northeast of the middle reaches of Nanxi River and on the bank of Hesheng River. The village was built in the late Song Dynasty, with Heshan Mountain at its back and the river on three sides. Xie Lingyun was appointed as the prefect of Yongjia in the third year of Yongchu (422), the reign of Emperor Wu of the Southern Song Dynasty. The following year, he returned to Shining due to illness and left his grandson Chaozu in Yongjia. He lived for more than 20 generations, and his descendant Xie Xuan moved from the county seat during the Taiping and Xingguo period of the Northern Song Dynasty (976-983). Ji Gushan moved to Heyang, and his descendants gradually separated into new villages. Their descendants separated into the Hesheng sect and settled here today, forming the current Xie family village.
