Introduction to Egg Castle: Egg Castle was built by the Normans on the tiny island of Megarides, where the colonists of Cumae founded the city. The third castle on the list is Castel Sant'Elmo, completed in 1329 and built in the shape of a star. During the Masaniello Revolt, the Spanish took refuge in Castel Sant'Elmo. Castel dell’Ovo (Italian: Castel dell’Ovo) is a castle in Naples, Italy, located on a small island called Megarides. In the 6th century BC, the colonists from Cumae established the original core of the city here. In the 1st century BC, the Roman noble Lucullus built the gorgeous villa Castellum Lucullanum here. This is also the place where Romulus Augustus, the last Western Roman emperor, was exiled by the Roman army commander Odoacer in 476. After 492, a monastery was built here.
