Introduction to the statue pillar of King Pratab Malla: Located at the entrance to the northeastern part of the square, this pillar was built in 1670 and erected in the small square in front of the Jagannath Temple. The figure above shows a king with his hands clasped together, sitting cross-legged under a cobra umbrella. Because most of the religious buildings extending to the southeast from this square were built during the reign of King Pratap Bumala, and later generations erected statues here as commemorations.
