Introduction to the Buddha head: The painted clay Buddha head is 21.5 meters high and 18.5 meters wide. It was unearthed in 1990 from the Hongfo Pagoda in Helan County, Ningxia. This Buddha faces a square face, has raised eyebrows, white hair between the eyebrows, slender eyes, and bright black eyes, made of black glaze. There are tear stains, which are caused by the eye glaze melting and dripping under high temperature. He has a straight nose and a big mouth, with an eight-character beard painted in ink on his lips, sun, moon and cloud patterns painted in ink on his chin, and white powder on his face. The Buddha statue is beautiful, solemn and kind, with skillful painting techniques and a high artistic level.
