Introduction to Nanshan Temple: The gate of Nanshan Temple, a thousand-year-old temple, has the word "Nanshan Temple" on the front of the door in the handwriting of Wenzong of the Yuan Dynasty. In the second year of Duangong of the Song Dynasty (AD 989), a temple was built in a cave on Lion's Head Mountain. Lion's Head Mountain was also called Nanshan, so it was named Nanshan Temple. In 997 AD, Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty came to the throne and "Taizong's calligraphy bestowed upon famous mountains all over the world", among which was Guizhou Nanshan (now Guigang Nanshan). The following year, 220 scrolls of imperial books were given to Emperor Taizong, for which Nanshan Temple built an imperial book pavilion to enshrine them. In the first year of Jingyou (AD 1034), Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty personally wrote the words "Jingyou Zen Temple" and gave it to Nanshan Temple. Therefore, Nanshan Temple was also called "Jingyou Zen Temple" and became a famous temple in Lingnan and a blessed place for the spread of Buddhism.
