Introduction to Dzong: Drukgyel Dzong is 14 kilometers away from Paro. It stands on a large rock above a village called Drukgyel and is surrounded by terraces. It was established in 1649 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to commemorate Bhutan's victory over the Tibetan invaders. After that, the descendants of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel lived here until 1951. Later, it was said that it was destroyed due to a fire caused by local people's mistake in using fire. It is now listed as a national heritage site by the Bhutanese government to reduce further damage to it. Through this ancient ruins, when the weather is clear, you can admire the towering Mount Everest on the back. The scenery is very spectacular.
