Introduction to the Shen Family Courtyard: During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Shen Ke came to Taixue as an official. His family was wealthy. He brought drawings from Beijing to build a courtyard in the south of Tushan Old Street. The architectural style was extremely particular. This courtyard faces south and is divided into four courtyards: east, west, middle and south. The east courtyard has three rooms each, the east room and the main room. They are simple and elegant, with a cloister with raised eaves and carved beams and painted columns, echoing the west courtyard. There are seven ancient rooms in the south courtyard, with brick and wood structures, Ming and Qing styles. The gate is located in the middle courtyard, with 7 rooms in the front row. In the middle is a two-story gatehouse higher than the two sides. Under the gatehouse, there are wood carvings 3 meters wide and 2 meters high, with exquisite workmanship. On both sides of the gate are rows of bluestone-carved stone drums guarding the gate. The gate is made of iron plates, so it is often called the "Shen Family's Big Iron Gate."
