Introduction to the central square: Go up the ramp from the Marina Gate, and the first thing you arrive at is the central square of the Temple of Apollo (Foro del Tempio di Apollo), which was once the political, economic and religious center of Pompeii. Center, also known as the Public Square (Foro). On the edge of the square are the most spectacular urban buildings among the many ruins: the Basilica, which still has some brick column bases, was a former court and commercial transaction place; opposite the synagogue is the Temple of Apollo (Tempio di Apollo), the 48 Corinthian columns inside are well preserved, and there are many exquisite murals; on the north side of the square, there is a Temple of Cupid (Tempio di Jupiter) with its back to Mount Vesuvius, which can clearly overlook Mount Vesuvius. It is also one of the highlights of the tour.
