Introduction to the John Lennon Wall: The John Lennon Wall (Lennon Wall) is located in the Velkopřevorské náměstí (Main Monastery Square) in Malá Strana and was originally owned by the Knights Hospitallers. Since the 1980s, people began to graffiti in the style of John Lennon and fragments of Beatles lyrics on this wall. In 1988, a large number of Czech youths wrote dissatisfied slogans on the wall to vent their hatred for Husak communism. The regime was outraged, culminating in a massive clash between hundreds of students and police.
Today, the original portrait of Lennon on the Lennon Wall is covered with some new graffiti, many flowers and poems, and has become a symbolic symbol for the contemporary youth of Prague to express "ideal, love and peace".
