Introduction to the wood carving exhibition area: Putian wood carving flourished in the Tang and Song Dynasties and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is known for its "subtle openwork carving". It is as famous as Zhejiang Dongyang wood carving, Guangdong golden lacquer wood carving, and Wenzhou boxwood carving, and is also known as the "Four Famous Carvings" of Chinese wood carving. In modern times, Putian wood carvings mostly use the locally abundant longan tree materials to carve various military commanders, ladies or statues, supplemented by old lacquer coating, making the works appear darker and antique. Now Putian has become the country's largest base for wood carving handicrafts and gifts. , becoming the main producing area for wood carvings of Buddha statues and Buddhist utensils, wood carvings of classical furniture and decorative wood carvings of ancient buildings.
The Putian Arts and Crafts City Wood Sculpture Exhibition and Sales Area has a four-story structure, divided into Area 1, Area 2 and Area 3, with a construction area of more than 120,000 square meters and more than 300 shops, gathering high-quality wood sculptures from Putian and all over the country. There are more than 180 merchants in the wood carving exhibition area, and it has become the world's largest sandalwood and agarwood trading base.
