Introduction to the Soviet Navy officer's sword: The gilt scabbard is wrapped in black leather, with an exquisitely shaped sheath spring, and the original hanging rings and straps. The sword body is forged from high carbon steel and plated with chrome, perfect as new. The sword is gilded copper and engraved with images of early naval battleships and anchors. The five-pointed star and sickle and hammer patterns on the hilt represent the Soviet power. It was presented to the United States by Lieutenant General Jim Dorset, Commander of the Third Fleet of the U.S. Navy, when North Sea Fleet Commander Lieutenant General Ma Xinchun led the "Zheng He Ship" to visit the United States in 1989.
