Introduction to Xu Xiangqian and Marshal House: In mid-July 1949, Xu Xiangqian came to Qingdao for treatment and recuperation due to illness, and moved into No. 17 Shanhaiguan Road. His wife and children also came with him. In September of the same year, the first meeting of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference was held in Peking. As a representative of this meeting, Xu Xiangqian was unable to attend due to illness. On October 1, New China was founded. Xu Xiangqian and his wife Huang Jie listened to the grand ceremony of the founding ceremony in front of the radio in the Marshal Building. On October 19, Xu Xiangqian was appointed as the Chief of General Staff of the People's Revolutionary Military Commission and became the first Chief of Staff of New China. At that time, he was still recuperating at No. 17 Shanhaiguan Road. After half a year of recuperation, Xu Xiangqian's condition improved, and he went to Beijing in May of the following year and returned to intense work.
