Introduction to Elder Mingzhe, the fourth abbot of Zhanshan Temple: Elder Mingzhe is the fourth abbot of Zhanshan Temple. He became a monk at the Yuanming Lecture Hall in Shanghai in 1949 and was a disciple of Master Yuanying, the former president of the Chinese Buddhist Association. Elder Mingzhe once served as the head of Guangji Temple in Beijing, executive director of the Buddhist Association of China, and deputy provost of the Buddhist College of China. In 1988, he was invited to concurrently serve as the abbot of Zhanshan Temple. Under his auspices, the temple reorganized its strict rules and strict moral conduct, and insisted on reciting morning and evening classes and practicing meditation. In order to promote Buddhism and cultivate talents, he also founded the Sangha Study Class and the Guangming Buddhist Training Class, opened a Dharma material circulation center, and made great contributions to the glory of Zhanshan Temple.
