Pilgrim introduction: The development of Guandi faith in Quanzhou probably began in the early Ming Dynasty. By the end of the Ming Dynasty, during the Wanli period, it had become very large and reached its peak in the Qing Dynasty. The incense in the temple is strong all year round, and believers come from as far away as Southeast Asia and Taiwan. It is now the seat of Quanzhou Urban Taoist Culture Research Association.
