Introduction to Udaya Castle: Located east of the old town of Rabat, where the Bregreg River enters the sea, and on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, it is an ancient castle complex. Founded in the 12th century by the Berber Dynasty, the existing open area of Udaya Fort is divided into three parts: the courtyard garden, the museum and the high-altitude platform. Udaya Fort retains its unique style of Berber houses and streets. A group of bungalows adjacent to the fort were originally a Portuguese military prison. After the French occupation, they were converted into restaurants and are still open today.
