Introduction to the Sweden Gate: The Sweden Gate was built in 1689. It is the only ancient city gate in Riga that has been preserved to this day. It was built to commemorate the heroic spirit displayed by the Swedish army during the Northern War. The entire city gate is made of red bricks. Opposite there are still the barracks where the Swedish army was stationed, which are now used as various shops.
