Library Introduction: The Central University Library was built under Carol I and designed by the French architect Paul. In 1989, a fire broke out in Romania and destroyed more than 500,000 volumes of rare books and more than 3,700 manuscripts of famous figures. It was later restored and renovated and opened to the public. The European Commission's representative office in Bucharest is also located here.
