Bee Fountain Introduction: The Bee Fountain (Fontana delle Api) was completed by Bernini in 1644 and is located in the corner of Piazza Barberini. The bee is the symbol of the Barberini family, and the fountain consists of a marble shell with three bees resting on it, originally intended for drinking horses. The inscription on the shell is "Urban VIII built a fountain for the city's public decoration and established this small fountain to serve the citizens. In 1644, the 21st year of his reign."
