Introduction to Poseidon Fountain: Fontana del Nettuno was designed by Giacomo della Porta and funded by the Pope. The lower part of the fountain is made of white marble and the upper part is made of local stone. In 1878, the "Battle of Neptune and Octopus" sculpture was added to the originally bare fountain.
