Introduction to the Holy Trinity Church: The Holy Trinity Church (Trinita dei Monti) is located on the hill above the Spanish Steps. It was built in 1495 with funding from the French Bourbon king. From the church’s pair of bell towers and windows , it can be seen that it is a Gothic building, which is different from the Baroque luxury and exquisite carvings that are more common in Rome.
The interior of the church is solemn and gorgeous. Almost all of the artworks in it were plundered during the Napoleonic occupation. It was not until Louis XVIII that some of them were returned. "Descent from the Cross" created by Erterra is of great ornamental value.
