Introduction to Bonfim Church: Bonfim Church (Bonfim) is located on a hill in the seaside area at the junction of Upper Town and Lower Town, overlooking the South Atlantic Ocean, and has an excellent geographical location. It is called the "Miracle Church" by the locals because a Portuguese ship was in trouble and the captain seemed to have received help from God and miraculously landed in El Salvador safely. This church was built to thank the gods for their help. To this day, people in Bahia still worship it as their patron saint. It is said that praying to the gods here is quite effective.
