Tsukimi Oar Introduction: Tsukimi Oar is a place used for viewing the moon and feasting. It is equipped with a corridor with vermilion lacquer railings and is weakly defensive. The Tsukimi oar was designed during the Peace Period to welcome the third generation shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu who was about to visit (Tokugawa Iemitsu later canceled his visit). Among the existing and verifiable ancient Japanese cities, Matsumoto Castle is the only one that has the Tsukimi oar built into the castle complex.
