Introduction to Ho Fung Shan Memorial Plaque: The plaque was awarded by the American Overseas Heritage Protection Committee in recognition of Mr. Ho Fung Shan. Mr. Ho’s merits are no less than Schindler’s. Dr. Ho Fung-shan was one of the first diplomats to rescue Jewish refugees by issuing visas. He saved the lives of thousands of Austrian Jews from 1938 to 1940. At great personal risk and sacrifice, Dr. Ho Feng-shan issued Chinese visas to many Jews so that they could leave Austria and escape the catastrophe of the Holocaust.
