Introduction to Archer Fish: Archer fish are sharpshooters in the water. They can shoot accurate and powerful water rays. The tongue rests against a groove in the roof of the mouth, forming a water tube that shoots a powerful stream of water through a sudden contraction of the gills. In order to better hit the target, its mouth sticks out of the water while the rest of its body remains in the water. There is also a pair of large eyes near the mouth, which can provide it with good vision.
