Introduction to Yuanshan Temple: Yuanshan Temple is located at the foothills of Xuanwu Mountain in Jieshi Town, covering an area of ​​15 hectares. It has pleasant scenery and a collection of cultural relics. It is not only a prestigious ancient Buddhist temple, but also the center of Hokkien-speaking beliefs at home and abroad. The temple was first built in the first year of Jianyan of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127). After several repairs in the Ming, Qing and Republic of China, it is now quite large, with buildings such as the mountain gate, front hall, middle hall, main hall, side halls, left and right verandahs, and the abbot's hall. Ninety-nine rooms, the main hall is dedicated to Xuantian God and Sakyamuni Buddha. The building complex is built according to the mountain topography as a group of symmetrical palaces and temples in a quadrangle. It is majestic, rigorous in structure, precise in layout design, and has winding sunshade paths extending in all directions. It integrates religious buildings, palace buildings, residential buildings, and garden buildings into one, and has the characteristics of Distinctive local architectural features.
Many precious historical relics displayed in the temple include: the bronze statue of "North Pole Zhenwu" from the Song Dynasty, the wooden statue of "Sakyamuni" and the Xuande incense burner from the Ming Dynasty, and the "Weixuanling" gifted by Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty. "Table" plaque, the "Shuide Primate" plaque presented by the national hero Lin Zexu of the Qing Dynasty and the plaque presented by Liu Yongfu, the leader of the Black Flag Army, a total of three "Chinese Culture Plaques", are the largest and most complete cultural relics in eastern Guangdong. One of the largest religious temples in the world, it is a key cultural relic protection unit and a key scenic spot in Guangdong Province.
