Introduction to Shanxi University Hall: After the "Hundred Days Reform" in 1898 and the "Boxer Rebellion" in 1900, in order to maintain its autocratic rule, the Qing Dynasty was forced by various pressures at home and abroad to launch the Qing Dynasty in 1901 (Guangxu). At the beginning of the 27th century, he announced the implementation of the so-called "New Deal", and the establishment of schools was the main content of the education reform. He ordered all academies in each province to be converted into university halls in provincial capitals, and all governments and departments directly under the jurisdiction of the prefectures to set up middle schools. There are primary schools in every county.
At that time, there were two academies in Taiyuan: "Jinyang Academy" and "Lingde Hall". During the "Hundred Days Reform", "Lingde Hall" was changed to Shanxi Provincial Capital School and certain reforms were carried out. On this basis In early 1902, Shanxi Governor Cen Chunxuan followed the imperial decree and renamed Lingde Hall as Shanxi University Hall. Shanxi candidate Yao Wendong was appointed as the first supervisor (equivalent to the principal), Gao Xie was the chief instructor, and Gu Rushong was the deputy chief instructor. Taiyuan Wenying Hunan Rural Trial Gongyuan was used as a temporary school site to accept students from Jinyang Academy and Lingde Hall, and the school officially opened . Thus, Shanxi University Hall was formally established.
