Introduction to Wentong Pagoda: There were many temples and nunneries built around Shaohu Lake in ancient times, but unfortunately most of them were destroyed later. Wentong Pagoda was built in the second year of Jinglong, Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty. It was originally named Zunsheng Pagoda and has a history of more than 1,290 years. The pagoda is the only remnant of the ancient Longxing Temple, which is where Ennin, the founder of the Tiantai Sect of Japanese Buddhism, lived when he came to China to study and practice Buddhism.
