Introduction to the Confucius Temple: The Confucius Temple was built in 478 BC, the second year after the death of Confucius. The three former residences of Confucius were renovated by Duke Ai of Lu, the king of Lu. The current Confucius Temple is a huge building complex, covering an area of ten hectares and more than one kilometer long from north to south. It is surrounded by red buildings and has nine courtyards and 466 large and small buildings.
