Introduction to fishing for oil pot: The folk performance of the She ethnic group - "fishing for oil pot" is a divine judgment method of the Yi people in the old days. This ceremony is held when the person who has lost something suspects that someone is committing theft but has no definite evidence. The ceremony is conducted by a wizard and takes place high in the mountains. Pour vegetable oil into a pot and boil it. After the wizard chants a spell, sprinkle a handful of rice into the pot, blow on the oil, and then ask the person who lost the property and the suspect to take turns reaching into the pot with bare hands to fish it out. If the suspect fishes out the rice and is not burned, it is not stolen; otherwise, it is stolen. If the person who lost the property fishes out the rice without being burned, it is a true loss; otherwise, it is a false report. Tibetans also have this method of divine judgment.
