Zoo Introduction: The St. Louis Zoo covers an area of 90 acres, southwest of Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. It is one of the best zoos in the United States for animal protection. The zoo was originally the site of the 1904 Louisiana World's Fair. Later, some concerned citizens of St. Louis purchased a huge oval flying cage building for the fair. Since its opening in 1913, it is one of the few remaining free zoos in the world. The park has a wide variety of animals, including animals from the African savanna, including lions, tigers, elephants, zebras, and giraffes: there is a children's zoo where children can freely touch gentle animals such as goats and sheep, and a butterfly garden. The park is also specially designed to allow visitors to get closer to walruses, wild boars, black rhinoceros, bush dogs, anteaters and other animals.
