Introduction to Beigong Gate: Beigong Gate was the main entrance of Qingyi Garden during the Qianlong period. It faces south and faces north. It is a two-story gatehouse with a width of seven rooms. Because there is Kunming Lake in the south of Qingyi Garden, there is no gate, so The north is viewed as upward, so the palace gate on the north side is the main entrance, called "North Palace Gate". In 1860, Qingyi Garden was burned by the British and French forces. It was rebuilt during the Tongzhi period and renamed "Summer Palace". The East Palace Gate was changed to the main entrance, while the North Palace Gate became the north gate of the Summer Palace. Its reputation is far less than that of the East Palace Gate.
