Introduction to Fort Denison: Fort Denison is a small defensive island across the sea from Mrs Macquaries Point. It was originally used to isolate prisoners. The fortress on the island was built during the Crimean War (1853-1856, the war between Britain, France, Turkey and Russia.) and was a detention center for criminals who were escorted to Sydney. Now it has become the best place to take pictures of the harbor and horizon.
