Introduction to Wenchang Pavilion: Wenchang Pavilion is a two-story pavilion. The downstairs is dedicated to Emperor Wenchang and Kuixing, and the upstairs is dedicated to the Jade Emperor.
During the ancient imperial examinations, literati and candidates gathered in Beijing. When visiting Taoranting in the south of the city, they asked for fortune-telling. In order to make the incense here more prosperous, the monks of Mercy Temple also held an event to sign a hundred poems from Wenchang. Each poem sign has a Qi Jue poem, which is said to have been written by Ji Xiaolan, a literati from the Qing Dynasty.
