Introduction to Princess' daily life: Heshuo Princess's real name was Yu Deling. He was born in Wuchang in 1886. His father Yu Geng was the Qing Dynasty envoy to Japan and France, and his mother was French. Yu Deling lived abroad with his father since childhood and was proficient in eight foreign languages and diplomatic etiquette. In 1903, the 17-year-old De Ling returned to Beijing with her father. Soon she and her sister Roung Ling worked as translators for the Empress Dowager Cixi as a female imperial official. Due to her deep love for Ci Xi and due to diplomatic needs, Yu Deling was awarded the title of Heshuogege. In 1907, Yudeling married Thaddeus White, the deputy consul of the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai, and went to the United States with her husband to engage in writing under the pen name Princess Deling. During the Anti-Japanese War, Yu Deling followed Soong Ching Ling in engaging in patriotic and national salvation movements overseas, and contributed to raising funds and materials for the anti-Japanese military and civilians. On November 22, 1944, Yudeling died in a car accident in Canada at the age of 58.
