Introduction to exchange of gifts: In April 1954, Zhou Enlai led the Chinese delegation to attend the Geneva Conference. Deng Yingchao asked a messenger to bring a pressed maple leaf to Zhou Enlai and wrote: "A maple leaf, send my thoughts." Zhou Enlai saw it. Thinking of people, he rewarded his loving wife with camellias from Geneva. Maple leaves and camellias have become messengers conveying the love between the two places and witnesses of their loyal love.
