In modern history, the masses of Tongxi fought bravely and fought bravely under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, making contributions to the victory of the new democratic revolution. Comrades such as Liu Ying, secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China at the time, Lin Qubing, the first secretary of the Ruian County Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Jin Yansan had all engaged in underground revolutionary activities in Tongxi. In 1988, Tongxi and Puxi were designated as revolutionary base villages during World War II, and Tongling, Houlong and other villages were designated as old revolutionary base villages during World War II.
