Introduction to the Neoclassical Trilogy: The "Neoclassical Trilogy" is the collective name of three neoclassical-style buildings: the National Library, the University of Athens and the Academy of Athens. The building in the middle is the University of Athens, with statues of the main gods of Greece painted on the outer walls; on both sides are the National Library and the Academy of Athens. The library contains a large collection of ancient Greek books and literary works. The academy was built to imitate the Acropolis. The two pillars are respectively carved with standing statues of Athena in armor and Apollo holding musical instruments. Under the pillars are seated statues of famous philosophers Plato and Socrates.
