Introduction to Mur Artificial Island: Mur Island (Mur Island/Murinsel) is an artificial island on the Mur River. It was established to celebrate "Graz 2003 City of Culture". It was designed by Vito Acconci, a New York-based designer. The main structure is made of thick silver steel pipes and glass intertwined into a network, with bridges on both sides connecting the river banks. Viewed from the river bank, the island looks like a huge silver shell and is considered a classic that blends art and architecture, fantasy and reality.
