The museum is located at the site of the Jiangdongmen Massacre and the burial site of the victims of the Nanjing Massacre by the Japanese invaders. The memorial hall was built in 1985 and expanded in 1995, covering an area of ​​30,000 square meters. On the left side of the main gate is engraved the name "Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders" written by Deng Xiaoping.
