Introduction to the University of Salamanca: The University of Salamanca is one of the most important buildings in Salamanca and one of the artistic treasures of the Spanish Renaissance. The university headquarters was built in 1218 by Afonso IX de Leon, and later renovated by Afonso X Sabio, and officially opened in 1254.
