Introduction to Tuyugou Thousand Buddha Caves: Known in ancient times as "Dinggu Temple", it is the earliest grotto built in Turpan, Xinjiang and has many early murals preserved. There are 94 caves in the scenic area, 45 of which are extant, 21 in the east of the ditch and 24 in the west of the ditch. The earliest caves appeared in the Jin and Sixteen Kingdoms periods. When the Juqu family became king (AD 443-450), Tuyugou Buddhism was at its most prosperous.
