Introduction to Uji Shrine: Uji Shrine enshrines the god Sodauchi Jiroko. Near the shrine is the villa of Emperor Ongami. It is said that it is the ruins of Kirihara Hiko-gu Shrine, the palace of Sodomichi Jiroko. Before 1868, it was integrated with Ujigami Shrine. Ujigami Shrine was called Rikyu Upper Shrine, and Uji Shrine was called Rikyu Lower Shrine.
