Introduction to the Einstein Monument: The Einstein Monument was sculpted by the Swiss sculptor Max Beer (who was also the former founding director of the Ulm School of Plastic Arts) and is located on Bahnhofstrasse, where Einstein's ruined former residence was located. The monument was unveiled on September 4, 1982. The 12 upright stones symbolize the 12 hours of day, and the 12 horizontal stones symbolize the 12 hours of night.
