It symbolizes the heroic spirit of the 29th Army in the bloody battle against the Great Wall. It is 8.15 meters wide and represents the Victory Day of the Anti-Japanese War on August 15. The monument reads "I would rather die in battle than to commit suicide." The ten characters "Slaves of the Subjugated Country" are the heroic words written by General Song Zheyuan back then.
