Church introduction: The Holy Cross Church was blown up by the Germans with yellow explosives during World War II. About one-third of the entire building was destroyed, but Chopin's heart was luckily brought out. After the church was rebuilt, Chopin's heart was returned to its original location on October 17, 1945, the anniversary of Chopin's death.
