Introduction to the Old City of Warsaw: The Old City of Warsaw (Stare Miasto) is one of the oldest places in Poland. During the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944, more than 85% of the buildings in the ancient city were destroyed by Nazi troops. After World War II, the citizens of Warsaw Great enthusiasm was placed on the revival of the capital. They spent up to 5 years rebuilding the ancient city based on past information and even the surviving citizens' memories of the old city. The original churches, palaces, trading places and other ancient buildings were ingeniously restored. The restoration left an indelible mark in the history of architecture from the 13th to the 20th century.
Today, the center of Warsaw is lined with Baroque and Gothic buildings from the 16th to 17th centuries. The numerous historical sites, jewelry, and works of art make you feel like you are stepping back in time. In 1980, the historic center of Warsaw was listed as a cultural heritage by UNESCO and included in the World Heritage List.
