Introduction to the Dragon King Temple: The Dragon King Temple was built in the Qing Dynasty. It has front and rear halls, and east and west wing rooms, all of which are wooden brick structures. In the middle of the main hall, there is a statue of the Dragon King, which is very impressive. On the left and right are the turtle prime minister and the patrolling yaksha. The walls on both sides are painted with murals of ancient legends and stories, which are lifelike. Two stone tablets are displayed in the east wing, respectively inscribed with the inscriptions "Rouyuan Anhe" and "Ruling the Army and Loving the People". They were both erected by Ding Ruchang and Zhang Wenxuan in the 16th year of Guangxu's reign in Liugong Island. In the old days, every year on the first day of the first lunar month or the thirteenth day of the sixth lunar month, on the birthday of the Dragon King, fishermen inside and outside the island would offer incense and kneel down to pray to the Dragon King for protection on the sea. Before the Sino-Japanese War of Sino-Japanese War, all passing ships that wanted to dock on the island came here to burn incense and pray for blessings. The Beiyang Navy also believed in the Dragon King, and the incense was strong for a while. After Ding Ruchang died for his country, his coffin was placed here. Later, residents on the island set up memorial tablets in the temple to offer sacrifices at four seasons, so the Dragon King Temple was also called Ding Gong Temple.
